Some MBA students in the Philadelphia area organize and participate in an annual fundraiser that generates thousands of dollars for local Boys and Girls Clubs.
According to the University of Pennsylvania's Daily Pennsylvanian newspaper, the "Philly Fight Night" event raised $55,000 for the local nonprofits this year. The newspaper notes that two students from the University's Wharton School of Business organize the event each year, from handling tickets and sponsors to recruiting boxers.
All six boxing matches at the event reportedly featured at least one MBA student, with other boxers from different parts of the university also participating. Many of the boxers are said to have some background in the sport, such as participating in graduate boxing clubs on campus, and must train with a professional before joining the annual fundraiser.
If you've thought about working towards your own MBA degree, this is just one example of the various fun and interesting activities that students undertake as they prepare themselves to reach new heights in the business world.
