Statistics show that although more females are beginning to enroll in MBA programs, there is still a large gender gap in business schools.
However, more all-girl's schools are beginning to offer MBA programs for their undergraduates to continue their education, according to BusinessWeek. For example, schools such as Simmons and Meredith have earned Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation, putting them among the ranks of other notable MBA programs.
Academic officials believe that accreditation would help gain recognition for both the schools and for the students who earn degrees from the MBA programs.
"I was concerned that some people may perceive it as a soft MBA or an MBA-lite and imbue it with certain gender stereotypes," MBA dean Deborah Merrill-Sands told the news provider. "By having the accreditation, that question is off the table."
In terms of MBA programs, there is still a large gender gap for students. Statistics show that women account for only 30 percent of total MBA students.
A woman pursuing an MBA may be eye-catching to potential employers, as many females opt for other degrees.
