Because some MBAs end up with high paying salaries or respectable positions, many of them tend to give back to the community.
One MBA student, Jordan McCall, is using the knowledge he gained from an MBA program to make a difference in Haiti by setting up a microfinance website, according to the Seattle University Spectator. Shortly after McCall set up his website, C2Fund.org, the earthquake struck.
McCall contacted the Grameen Foundation and asked if all of the money made from his microfinancing website could be put towards their relief efforts.
McCall explained that he had charity in mind when he was deciding to pursue an MBA degree.
"I was first inspired to get my MBA because I knew I wanted to do more in my career," he told the news provider. "I wanted to make a difference outside of a profit. Microfinance embodied the concept of 'solving poverty' and helping people sustain themselves."
If you're interested in getting into microfinancing, a finance MBA can be a good way to learn the inner workings of the field, which may help you become successful.
