MBA Students Do Public Service In New Orleans

Some MBA students are putting their skills to work helping the city of New Orleans get back on its feet.
A recent story in USA Today describes IDEACorps, which was created with the Idea Village in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to help local business owners create jobs and revive the local economy.
According to the article, a group of eight MBA students from Stanford are spending their spring break working with one local entrepreneur on a business plan for his eco-friendly flip-flops. So far, 50 students have reportedly done work in New Orleans this year, up from five participants in 2006.
"I recognize that it's business and unrestricted free-market capitalism that has caused a lot of the problems we have today. But they're also going to fix them," student Lucas Weingarten told the newspaper.
