Earning your MBA degree while still having a job can be tricky, but rewarding, at the best of times.
Doing it while involved in a $32 billion financial restructuring is even more dramatic. Claude Bergeron, the general counsel for the organization overseeing pension plans in Quebec did just that, getting his MBA while there was a market collapse that was a side effect of the global financial crisis.
"No one could predict that [
] we would live through such an event," Mr. Bergeron said in a hearing earlier this year.
Bergeron was involved in drafting the legal rules that restructured the trusts to salvage the market and chose to make his life experience part of his MBA courses.
"You can choose your topic," he said of his thesis in an interview with the Financial Post. "I wrote a lot on this crisis."
MBA schools seek to incorporate your life experience into your work, just as Mr Bergeron did, allowing you to bring your unique approach to the table. There are so many options now to do an MBA no matter what other crisis is going on in your life. Shouldn't you be looking into MBA programs?
