Joining the growing trend for business schools to offer "Green" MBA programs, which focus on sustainable development, efficiency and socially responsible business practices, Concordia University Wisconsin has added an MBA degree with an emphasis on environmental studies.
"To be true to our university mission, we need men and women who are good stewards of the earth in business," said David Borst, dean of the School of Business and Legal Studies at Concordia, in an interview with the Business Journal of Milwaukee, "We need to take being green from being a fad to being a way of life, in our homes and at work."
According to the article, in addition to the core MBA courses the concentration will require five of the following courses: green sustainability, environmental chemistry, limnology (water quality), current topics in environmental studies, ecology and environmental law.
Earlier this year, Business Week reported that enrollment in programs offering sustainable management is booming, and that the move to a greener sensibility isn't going away anytime soon. If you are interested in the environment and sustainable development, this might be a good time to get an MBA degree.
