For individuals in business, an executive position is considered the top-tier in terms of employment. Because of this, many people seek MBA degrees in order to show their employers their commitment to moving up in the company.
MBA Scot Parnell was recently appointed to chief financial officer (CFO) for Crump Group, which is a wholesale insurance distributor. Parnell has had previous experience serving in the CFO position, most recently working at The Student Loan Corporation.
He was able to obtain that title after climbing the ranks of other financial professions within the company for seven years, before establishing himself as CFO in 2008. Parnell also worked at MetLife and Browning Ferris Industries.
Crump's chief executive officer (CEO), John Howard, said he believes it's Parnell's experience that trained him for his new role.
"His significant financial knowledge, background and mindset as CFO of a prominent publicly-traded company are particularly well-suited to lead us through our next phase of growth," he said in a statement. "We look forward to integrating him into our organization."
If you're interested in becoming a CFO, a finance MBA may start your training for you to effectively move up the ranks of financial positions.
