The environment has been a hot button issue in recent years with both the government and the general public. As the Obama administration sets aside money to go towards financial incentives for utilizing energy-efficient materials, more companies are looking to integrate alternative energy into their business. MBAs are beginning to look into environmental jobs as a means of job security.
Mauricio Quintana was recently named the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Clipper Windpower, according to EnergyDigital.com. Quintana holds an MBA degree and has also studied engineering.
Quintana's appointment comes on the heels of Doug Pertz announcing his resignation from the company. Quintana previously served as the director of corporate strategy and development at United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
"We welcome Mauricio and his passion for the Clipper opportunity and its technology drive. He has been integrally involved in UTC's assessment of Clipper's technologies, markets and its operations, which resulted in their $275 million investment (by way of subscription and tender offer) in January 2010," Jim Dehlsen, the company's chairman, told the news source.
Many individuals are currently pursuing Green MBA programs, which offer an in-depth look into the business side of the environmental industry, according to BusinessWeek.
