The percentage of women enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at the University of Texas at Arlington was over 30 percent last year and school officials expect it to reach 40 to 50 percent for the 2009-2010 school year.
"The yearly increase in female enrollment is a continuing trend and one that we have paid attention to from day one," said Jim Ellis, executive director of the University of Texas at Arlington EMBA program and director of the program's Graduate Certificate in Asian Business Studies program.
Groups like the Forté Foundation, founded in 2001, have been actively trying to promote gender equity in business schools through outreach to female candidates and encouraging MBA schools to afford a better work/life balance in order to attract more women to MBA programs.
"We're making headway on the glass ceiling," said Crystal Dennstedt, CIO at North Texas State Hospital and current UTA EMBA student.
The push to more diversity is only increasing. Women are being actively recruited, doors are opening and opportunities offered. If you have been considering going after an MBA degree, it might be time to strike while the iron is hot.
