Many MBA students at the University of Michigan enhance their education and experience by participating in the university's Michigan Business Challenge.
An article on the university website describes the efforts students must make to succeed in the business problem-solving competition that over time allows participants to draw up an entire business plan.
"After one round of competition, the judges will say, 'Okay, in a month, we want to see more information about the market, more information about your competitors, and more information about the finance. Eventually, if you make the cut, they want to see the whole business plan," MBA student Ian Dailey was quoted as saying in the article.
The winning team reportedly gets a $15,000 prize for the best business, and competition is fierce. The article notes that at the outset of the competition last year, 64 teams of several students each were involved.
For MBA students, this is the sort of preparation that will help them succeed and thrive in the business world, especially given the current economy and tough competitive atmosphere. No matter where you earn your MBA degree, chances are your program will offer similar opportunities to learn and have fun while preparing to take your career to the next level.
