In order to successfully complete one's application to an MBA program of his or her choice, it is often necessary to complete the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). While an increasing number of MBA programs will now accept scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) it seems that the top tier business schools still prefer applicants to take the GMAT.
A recent article in BusinessWeek examined the benefits to taking the GRE versus the GMAT. Schools like Harvard Business School and Stanford's Graduate School of Business will accept the GRE as part of a successful application. However, only five percent of prospective MBA students chose to take this test over the GMAT at Harvard.
Very few students are opting to take the GRE in order to get into their MBA programs of choice, the news provider revealed. Along with the low percentage at Harvard, admissions officials at Stanford were reportedly unable to calculate the percentage of GRE scores submitted, making the GMAT still the popular choice.
Individuals looking to apply for MBA programs at institutions around the country should be sure to check with the schools directly to learn of any specific admissions requirements, including standardized test scores.
