Some MBA students in Kansas will put their business training to good use this spring as they prepare for a couple of upcoming competitions.
An article on the Lawrence Journal-World website describes how students at Kansas University's MBA program will be hosting the 2009 Ciber International Case Competition in April. The competition pits MBA students against each other with case studies involving real-world business situations that they must prepare over the course of 24 hours.
The students reportedly make their presentations to a panel of company executives and faculty, ensuring an added dose of real-world business knowledge.
According to the CIBER website, the Centers for International Business Education and Research were created by Congress in 1988, and several dozen of them exist at educational institutions around the country. Along with the competitions, the program also aims to promote knowledge of international business among students and business faculty.
After the Ciber competition, the website noted that students will be going to Guangzhou, China to participate in a similar competition.
