Business executives who may not have time to attend night classes during the week for an MBA now have another option thanks to a change in Vanderbilt's program.
The school's 31-year-old executive MBA program will transition from its alternating Friday-Saturday schedule to an alternating Saturday-only time table, according to the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management.
Incoming MBA students, which will be the class of 2011, will attend such classes over a period of 24 months and two short summer sessions. There will also be a four-week summer break.
"The extended Saturdays, combined with short summer sessions, enable us to maintain exactly the same demanding MBA curriculum as the Friday-Saturday Executive MBA Program, while easing the strain on professionals who don't want to be out of the office during the traditional work week," said Tami Fassinger, associate dean of executive program.
The school reportedly made the change after conducting a survey that found between 70 and 80 percent of current students preferred the Saturday-only schedule because it allowed them to "earn a graduate degree without disrupting their job responsibilities."
If you're a business executive who would benefit from advanced training, this might be your cue to consider working on an MBA degree.
