Although some people may believe that playing professional football is one of life's greatest achievements, one player is looking for more by pursuing an MBA degree.
Rich Scanlon, a free agent who most recently played for the New York Giants, is pursuing an MBA in order to build on his education background in preparation for retirement from the gridiron, according to The Financial Times.
The National Football League (NFL) created a business management and entrepreneurial program for which all players can register. The goal behind the program is to teach players how to make a living after their football career is over.
"Team owners wanted to make sure that players were making the right financial decisions," Chris Henry, director of the NFL's player development, told the news provider. "Players receive a tremendous amount of pressure to invest in businesses and we wanted to educate them about the complexities of doing so."
Even if you don't have the financial pressure to invest that some football players do, an MBA could help you make smart business decisions that can help you lead a comfortable lifestyle.
