MBAs Taking Sustainability Courses May Be Ahead Of The Curve

With the environment a hot-button topic on many people's minds, business schools are beginning to offer courses to educate students in sustainability and environmental financial returns.
While this has become an option for some MBA programs, others have yet to jump on board, according to the Financial Times. Some academic analysts believe that the students who are receiving these options may be a step ahead of individuals who are simply pursuing a finance MBA.
As more businesses begin to focus on sustainability issues, it may be a good idea to try at least one environmental course. Some environmentalists told the news provider that they believe more business schools should offer sustainability programs.
"People need the skills and tools, so it needs to be far better integrated into our academic institutions," Mindy Lubber, president of Ceres, a coalition of investors and environmental groups, told the news provider. "And how could we not be teaching students how to put a financial price on natural resources when they are the underpinning of every part of our economic base?"
