Even in a dismal economy, many U.S. businesses are reportedly planning to maintain their current marketing efforts.
This week, Media Buyer Planner reported on recent results of the Ad-ology Small Business Marketing Outlook, which found that 26 percent of small business owners plan to increase their advertising spending in 2008, while 60 percent plan to maintain their spending levels from 2008.
The report noted that small businesses plan to increase or maintain their ad spending across a wide variety of media. For example, 69 percent plan to incorporate online advertising into their marketing strategies, while 54 percent cited the Yellow Pages and 51 percent cited newspapers and direct mail.
Far fewer companies seemed convinced that these advertising methods are actually very effective however.
One thing all of these companies have in common is the need for skilled marketing professionals who can identify useful trends and help companies take their sales and business presence to the next level.
For many professionals who want to get involved in such efforts, working towards an MBA degree, either online or in the classroom, can be an ideal way to acquire the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly competitive environment.
