Many MBA programs are coming under scrutiny for their leadership. Because of this concern, some institutions are looking to shakeup their administration to secure a good reputation.
Some analysts have blamed MBA programs during the financial collapse for their poor management, ultimately training students to make similar poor business decisions that led to the fall of the nation's economy, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Now, the new MBA officials are cracking down on their curricula to ensure that a similar situation does not occur again. One of the major changes is that there is a higher focus on ethics in MBA programs in order to train students to strategically think about good business decisions.
"We're all coming in at a critical time for management education," Sally Blount, a recently appointed MBA dean, told the news provider. "We're focused on ethics, of course, but also social responsibility."
USA Today reiterates this statement by suggesting that just a few years ago, MBAs learned about how to avoid scandals such as Enron. Now MBA programs have shifted heavily to training effective leaders.
