If electronic medical records are the future, then turn to the future business leaders to see how the shift from paper to screen will go.
That was the logic for an exercise organized by the Fuld & Company consultant firm, which put a collection of MBA students in the roles of key industry players to imagine how the future might play out, according to an article on CNET news.
"Adoption will come at a much slower speed than I think people would like," said Leonard Fuld, who organizes exercises like this yearly. "Entrenched interests will resist electronic medical records for a much longer time."
Other predictions that came from the students were that industry players will have to consolidate as the large money amounts will provoke mergers and that financial pressure will have to be high to push the move to digital records through.
Fuld said students' past predictions on other topics have often proved accurate, according to the article.
The move to medical records is just one major arena where the choices of business and industry will have huge effects on everyone's lives. If you want to be in on those decisions, it might be time to consider getting an MBA degree.
