Many individuals who have MBA degrees are often chosen for executive positions, as some company heads believe that furthering ones education is a sign that the individual takes their career track seriously and dedicated to improving their skills.
American Express Company recently announced that Daniel H. Schulman will join the company as its new head of the Enterprise Growth group, which is a new business unit. Schulman joins the company from Sprint Nextel.
Schulman, who has an MBA degree, will be responsible for the company's global strategy in order to expand the use of alternative payments through mobile and online services.
"To head the new group, we looked outside the industry for a proven leader who knows how to transform today's technology into tomorrow's products," Kenneth Chenault, the company's chief executive officer (CEO). "We wanted someone whose expertise cut across online and mobile technology, who has built new businesses, who knows how to work with great brands and who could help us leverage our existing assets and build new ones."
