The majority of MBA students usually enter their programs with prior business experience. However, military veterans who are pursuing their MBA degrees often do not have the luxury of corporate experience.
In order to help the number of veterans who attended MBA programs prior to their deployment, two former US Army officers who have MBAs, Christopher Peterson and Dave Chonowski, launched an online forum with job postings, according to the Wall Street Journal.
MBA Veterans Connect is a social networking site aimed at helping veteran MBAs find jobs through alumni career panels, job boards and alumni profiles.
So far, the website has connected war veterans from all around the world, placing them in contact with employers. Some career insiders believe this kind of website could be a way to help troops get into the working world.
"This whole social network has been tremendously untapped," Bruce Moore, associate director of a Career Management Center at an MBA program, told the news provider. "I don't think we've even scratched the surface at how effective it is going to be."
Individuals who are looking for employment may want to consider pursuing an MBA, as statistics show there is a higher rate of employment for those who hold the esteemed degree.
