Typically, companies choose individuals who have the most qualifications when they're picking out executives to run the business. This could be one of the reasons why MBAs are often chosen for these esteemed positions, as they are known to take leadership and ethics courses throughout their programs.
Art Smith, who has an MBA degree, was recently named the chief marketing officer for Union Bank. In addition to possessing an MBA degree, Smith also has more than 25 years of experience within the marketing sector.
Before he joined Union Bank, Smith served as the senior vice president and head of global brand marketing for Wachovia. While he held this position, he was responsible for developing brand strategy and management, as well as overseeing advertising and sports marketing.
"Art has a proven track record of strategic leadership over his 25-year career, and we are pleased to have someone with his level of experience and expertise lead all marketing efforts as we continue to grow," said chief retail banking officer Timothy Wennes.
