If you are interested in international business and how the economic downturn is impacting on a global scale, you may be encouraged to hear that MBA applications in Singapore are expected to soar.
As you may remember the Sars disease hit the city in 2003 and Nick Hutton, chief executive of U21Global, tells asianonebusiness that there was an upsurge in applications to the online school then, but it is too early to tell if unprecedented levels of people have applied yet as the process is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, IT director Samuel Schwarz, 38 - who is studying for an MBA at U21Global states to the business forum: "I think it assures my employer that my skills are up-to-date and ... it would be easier to find employment elsewhere should I unexpectedly get retrenched."
In other international business news, South Korea has announced that 50,000 jobs will be created by the end of 2009 because of large investments into infrastructure.
