MBA students from Big 12 conference universities competed in the third annual MBA Case Competition this past weekend, which was hosted by Baylor University.
The students were given an original "live case" that was designed specifically for the competition, according to the school.. With less than 24 hours, the various MBA student teams had to analyze the business situation, research various possibilities, propose ideas and give a presentation with their recommendations. DMX, a multisensory branding company, was the company featured in the case.
"This was a great opportunity for MBA students to deal with a real company's challenges," said Dr. Gary Carini, associate dean of the graduate business programs at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business. "The executives from DMX were looking for fresh ideas looking to the future and that's what these teams provided."
Judging the competition were academics from Auburn University and Rice University, as well as executives from American Airlines, 360 Partners and DMX. MBA degree students from Oklahoma State University were declared the winner.
Business professionals interested in elevating their career and potentially bouncing their ideas off corporate executives may take this as a cue to look into enrolling in an MBA program.
