New research has emerged that found that people with MBA degrees may have a better chance at working up the corporate ladder and becoming the chief executive officer of a company.
Plummer & Associates recently completed a new survey concerning the education of the CEOs of the top 100 retailers in the U.S. and found that 80 percent of them had college degrees, which is an increase from a 2002 study.
The study also found 23 percent had MBA degrees, suggesting that going to business school can help a person with aspirations of holding an executive office in the future.
One reason it may be beneficial for a person to enter an MBA program is because retail companies face more varied issues than they ever did before, according to Plummer & Associates.
CEOs of retailers have to handle a number of different business aspects that include marketing, supply chain logistics as well as information technology.
"It is clear that you must strive to educate yourself and that education must include the rigors of earning a bachelor's degree. Your chances [of moving up] are greatly improved if you also earn an MBA," states the survey.
