Although some MBAs go on to become chief executive officers (CEOs) and chief financial officers (CFOs), there are other high-ranked positions that incorporate an MBA's knowledge into a different field.
Andrew Mirsky was recently appointed the chief technology officer (CTO) for CustomMade.com, an online marketplace for custom-built wooden furniture, woodcrafts and cabinets. Although Mirsky pursued both bachelor and master's degrees in engineering, he eventually decided to get his MBA to learn about the nuanced aspects of business.
Mirsky also held various managerial positions at technology companies such as IBM and Sun Microsystems. His new employer took notice of his achievements both in academics and in the corporate world and decided he would be a good fit for the online company.
"We are delighted to welcome someone of Andrew's experience and skill set to the CustomMade team," said CustomMade Ventures President Michael Salguero. "Andrew is the ideal person to build on that progress and take our technology capabilities to the next level."
If you're interested in pursuing an executive position in the technology field, an MBA coupled with a degree in computer science or engineering could be a combination that employers take notice of.
