Students working towards MBA degrees will soon have a chance to put their skills to work for the environment.
A recent report by the Kansas City Star noted that starting in January, MBA students will be able to apply to become fellows in the Environmental Defense Fund's Climate Corps program. The program was introduced last year with seven fellows who spent their summers helping top companies like Yahoo and Cisco Systems become more eco-friendly and energy efficient.
"The technology is there to be energy efficient. But what companies need help in is building the internal business case for energy efficiency. Thats where MBA skills come in," Beth Trask of Climate Corps told the Star.
An MBA degree is your ticket to almost any kind of opportunity that you can imagine. Along with starting businesses and helping to run top corporations and institutions, MBAs are also establishing a presence in less-traditional fields like non-profits or working in new career fields altogether.
In line with Climate Corps, the rapidly emerging field of renewable energy technology may be another area that will attract more MBAs in the coming years since growing and successful companies will depend on highly skilled managers to keep them thriving.
