There are some things MBA students may not be able to learn in a classroom.
A total of 13 students from Appalachian State University's MBA program in the Walker College of Business traveled to China and Hong Kong last month to learn first-hand about the business industry in the country.
"Though we have introduced students to doing business in China through case studies, research and current events, nothing takes the place of the global perspective and professional development gained from direct immersion in the culture," said Betty Coffey, professor of strategic management at the MBA school.
Aside from visiting historical sites, the students were given a presentation by Wang Zin, director of China International Publishing Group, a large international-oriented publisher in China. Zin reportedly spoke about Sino-American relations and contemporary issues in China and emphasized the hope that the US could work with is country to solve the current economic crisis.
If you're a business professional who would benefit from an international perspective as well as advanced training, this might be a cue for you to start looking into business schools to earn an MBA degree.
