Sometimes, MBAs are sought for council in order to help individuals come up with an effective strategy to get ahead. While this is typical in businesses, some notable figures are seeking advice from MBAs as well.
Mayor Dave Bing is currently trying to fix Detroit's $300 million deficit, and has created a group of MBAs and other savvy business workers to come up with solutions for the city's financial issues, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
The team was given 100 days to assess the situation and come up with a solution to help get the city out of debt. In addition to former deputy mayor Freman Hendrix, business owner Denise Ilitch and Ford executive Joe Walsh, there are eight MBAs on the board.
The group was split into different sections in order to come up with a unified plan.
"I helped develop a strategy for processing advance payments to city employees," MBA Naila Payne told the news provider. "I knew that the process needed to be better managed."
If you're interested in learning how to come up with effective strategies, enrolling in an MBA program may give you the knowledge you need to solve huge financial problems.
