Because many industries remain at a lull in terms of hiring and productivity, MBAs are looking for careers in fields they know are flourishing, such as healthcare.
Many MBAs are turning to the healthcare field after noticing a surge in the industry, according to BusinessWeek. A survey by the MBA Career Services Council reveals that 31 percent of the schools questioned saw an increase in healthcare recruiting, according to the news provider.
These individuals also hoped that new jobs would be created with the passing of a healthcare reform bill. However, as the tides have begun to turn, there is less focus on the potential of the bill.
Still, some MBAs are hopeful that the burgeoning health market will help create some opportunities for them.
"Health care accounts for 20% of the economy, which is a lot," MBA student Jeff Freude told the news provider. "It's a real challenge and opportunity for MBAs."
If you're interested in pursuing a health management job, an MBA may offer more opportunities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an MBA degree is required by many healthcare offices for any managerial position.
