Members of Generation Y are part of a "demographic tsunami" that will soon result in sweeping changes at the nation's business schools, according to Business Week.
In a recent report, the magazine profiled several young MBA degree students who were born after 1980 and cautioned against over-generalizing this generation.
"They like personal attention and are used to getting information how they want it, when they want it. They are strong-willed, passionate, optimistic, and eager to work. And… they care deeply about the world and its problems," says the magazine.
One student, Sarah Hochmann, 27, told the magazine she had returned to school for an MBA degreebecause she wanted to help spread enthusiasm for sustainability and the environment, which she had not been able to do as effectively with her previous business skills.
According to the report, the Millenial generation is already making its presence felt at top business schools, even though most of them are only just now entering what is considered to be the prime business school age group of 26 to 28.
For example, several business schools now have programs that give students greater flexibility in customizing their curriculums, while several others have now reportedly introduced entire programs for sustainability studies.
