Because some MBA degree-holders often make a reputable amount of money, some may be more inclined to make charitable donations.
Anne Dias-Griffin, an MBA program graduate who heads a hedge fund in Chicago, Illinois, recently made a large charitable donation to a local children's hospital with her husband, Kenneth Griffin, who founded Citadel Investment Group.
Dias-Griffin, who manages Aragon Global Management, one of the largest hedge funds run by a woman, gave $16 million to the Ann and Robert Lurie Children's Memorial Hospital through the Kenneth and Anne Griffin Foundation.
This large contribution is the fifth largest charitable donation the hospital had ever received, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Dias-Griffin has been involved with the Children's Hospital for a few years. She joined the hospital's board of directors in 2005 and is also a member of its investments committee.
The donation will go towards building a new emergency care center which will be named after the couple.
If working for a hedge fund interests you, pursuing a finance MBA may offer the credentials you need to become successful in one of the top-tiers of finance.
