Finance MBAs who have gone on to become chief financial officers (CFOs) are becoming more optimistic about their companies and workforce.
A new survey finds that CFOs have more optimism for the future after a rough economic year like 2009. Although there is still a resistance to hire new workers, with only 44 percent of respondents say they plan on hiring in the new year. However, 62 percent of respondents revealed they were not planning on conducting layoffs.
"The findings of our fourth quarter survey demonstrate that CFOs overall closed 2009 with a much improved sense of optimism that when it began, but they are realistic about the challenges that still lay ahead," John Elliott, an MBA program dean said in a statement. "CFOs are indicating that they have learned lessons from the downturn and can face the coming year looking forward to the opportunities at hand."
Although the CFOs are hopeful that the market will turn around, it still may be a good idea for individuals to pursue an MBA degree, as it can boost their qualifications to potential employers.
