Some business schools are advising its MBA students to have an open mind and to think a bit smaller in terms of the job market - specifically in the small business world.
Though such businesses may not have the large MBA salary that bigger corporations possess, MBA degree graduates are finding there are advantages of starting out at a smaller company.
Marley Hodgson, co-founder and CEO of the Denver salad company Mad Greens, told Business Week he was looking for a vice president for finance when he received a resume from an MBA student from the University of Colorado at Boulder's Leeds School of Business.
"I really liked him, so then the question was 'how do I make sure he jumps on board with us?'," Hodgson said.
To do that, Hodgson threw in extra vacation time, "an attractive bonus," and equity in the company, according to the article. The student accepted and now Hodgson said he's considering hiring more MBA students in the future.
For people interested in an executive position in the business world, this may be the cue for you to start looking into MBA programs.
