MBA students from across the pond were given a tour of the various companies in Silicon Valley to gain a better understanding of how the technology business works.
Eleven students from the University of Oxford were brought around to see the inner workings of a number of businesses that included Twitter, JamBase, LinkedIn and Cisco, MercuryNews.com reports.
Nancy Vega, the student who organized the trip, told the news provider she hopes to work in a Silicon Valley startup before starting her own company.
"This is sort of the capital of entrepreneurship and innovation in many ways," Vega said.
The week-long excursion is reportedly a spinoff of Silicon Valley goes to Oxford, an annual fall visit by valley business professionals that started in 2001.
At one point during the trip, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone gave the students some advice and said to not start a company unless they were passionate about the product, according to the article. Stone added to be ready "to make decisions today that only yesterday you thought you'd be making a year from now."
People interested in getting their MBA degree may see this as a cue to look into business education programs as a way to enhance their knowledge of the industry.
