The move to green energy is providing MBA students with the opportunities to put their talents to environmentally responsible applications. Sites like the Renewable Energy Center at Wild Horse, located in Vantage, Washington, are designed to showcase those opportunities.
In an interview on NBC affiliate KNDO/KNDU, John Manetti, a student pursuing his MBA degree at the University of Washington discussed combining a belief in renewable energy with his career goals under wind turbines taller than the Statue of Liberty.
"As MBA's, we look at it as a good opportunity to have a good job, to make a good living while still doing good for the world," Manetti said.
According to the news report, Manetti is part of Net Impact, a club focused on socially and environmentally responsible business practices. With a commitment by the new administration to spending in green energy, the need for executives with the business administration skills necessary to make these projects effective is constantly growing.
As renewable energy companies such as Bella Energy in Colorado hire mainstream professionals, the time may be ripe to look into MBA programs as an underappreciated avenue to positively affect the environmental future.
