MBAs and other professionals could be surprised to hear that Google's CEO Eric Schmidt recently said that Iraq could soon offer business opportunities.
Schmidt traveled to Baghdad in late November, where he announced that stabilization in Iraq could transform the country into the home of a viable marketplace, according to The Wall Street Journal.
"After this tremendous investment in Iraq, we see business recovery finally happening," he said in an interview recorded by the U.S. military. "The creation of a new Iraqi state ultimately means business opportunities for global firms."
Schmidt joined Google in 2001, where he and founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page oversee the company's business strategies, according to the company's website. Schmidt is also a member of President Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
If the idea of doing business abroad seems exciting to you, it might be time to consider earning a master degree in international business. Building relationships overseas can help businessmen and women develop their professional networks - a tool that could become increasingly important in today's global marketplace.
