A growing number of professionals nationwide are opting to ride out the current recession by studying for MBA degrees.
To bring your career to the next level in an increasingly competitive atmosphere, now may be the time to consider applying for either an online MBA courses or a traditional one.
For example, KETV of Omaha, Nebraska recently reported that the University of Nebraska at Omaha has seen a 25 percent jump in applications in recent months. Other programs in the state have reported similar increases, led by Bellevue University at 34 percent.
"People that have survived the initial onslaught and still have their jobs, they want to keep their jobs, so they want to be more competitive," University of Nebraska Program Coordinator CJ Bachman told the television station, adding that he expects to see even more interest in MBA degrees if the economy remains stagnant.
This high interest can be found nationwide. The Dallas Business Journal reported this week that applications at Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business were up 76 percent in the past year, applications at MIT's Sloane School of Management in Massachusetts are up 28 percent, according to WBUR radio radio, and applications are up 30 percent at the University of Arizona, according to the Tucson Citizen.
