If you want to put your MBA degree to work helping developing nations while building your own international business experience, one option may be the Citizen Development Corps (CDC).

London's Financial Times newspaper recently discussed the CDC's MBA Enterprise Corps (MBAEC) program, a Washington D.C. organization that matches business school graduates with various projects in developing nations for up to 15 months.

"The MBAEC becomes the launch pad for a career move. And usually they're picked up right after because they're already in the country or region they're interested in," CD Glin of the MBA Enterprise Corps was quoted as saying.

The newspaper also cited the experience of one MBA student who had spent time working with small businesswomen in Ethiopia, many of whom surprised him with their existing grasp of business principles.

According to the organization's website, over 1,000 members have worked in over 30 countries on four continents, providing their knowledge to several thousand companies and government entities in the process.

A growing number of students with MBA degrees have spent time doing service projects in developing nations or have interned overseas because of the solid business and life experiences they acquire in the process. The increasing diversity and global nature of the business world is another reason why such activities can be so useful to one's career.
