MBA students are trained to be the best in their field, and as a promise, some MBA students are taking the Hippocratic Oath before graduation.
Although this is mandatory among medical personnel, reciting the Hippocratic Oath was a practice done by a group of MBAs in the United States, according to DNA. Now, students in India have followed suit, and at least 1,849 MBA graduates this year will be saying the same lines.
One of the reasons this trend has become so popular in India is because individuals feel the country has a problem with ethics, and that perhaps reciting the words of the Hippocratic Oath would keep the ethics of business in some MBA students' minds.
"It is our duty to teach students about ethics," MBA professor T. Prasad told the news provider. "Otherwise we will have another Satyam to handle tomorrow. If at least 10% (of MBA graduates) remain ethical, the country would reap benefits."
This trend may continue to spread throughout the United States, as the practice originally started in the country. If you're interested in getting some lessons in ethics, an MBA program may give you the guidance needed to make good business decisions.
