Although MBA programs are still noticing a gender gap between males and females, average salaries for each gender are beginning to be on an equal playing field.
In many industries, women and men are getting closer to earning the same salary, according to Money Watch. Currently, women earn 80 cents for every dollar men make, however, it has also been discovered that women are on the verge of holding more full-time jobs than men.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women have come a long way in terms of earnings. In 1979, women only made 62 percent of what men earned. By the mid 2000's, that gap closed to 81 percent. However, recent times has seen a slip to 80 percent.
There are still indications that the gap is decreasing, the Pew Research Center shows that currently, 22 percent of wives are out-earning their spouses.
For individuals who want a higher pay, regardless of gender, an MBA degree may help. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an MBA degree holder typically earns an extra $221 a week in annual salary compared to an individual with a bachelor's degree.
