Various corporations and organizations have a board of directors to vote on how things are run. Because there is a lot of responsibility, board members are usually elected for their business expertise, which could be why many MBAs hold positions on the esteemed panel.
David Gerrity, an MBA, was recently appointed to the board of directors for MOD Systems, a digital retailer. Gerrity has held a number of executive positions in technology companies throughout his professional life.
Currently the vice president of business development for Intellectual Ventures, Gerrity has also served as the chief executive officer (CEO) for Naverus and the president and CEO of Coinstar. During his tenure at the financial company, Gerrity held various executive positions including chief technology officer (CTO) and chief operations officer (COO).
Gerrity said that his appointment would help improve MOD's production and distribution, as he has knowledge in the technology industry.
"The team has aligned the right partners in NCR and Toshiba, the technology expertise necessary for scale, impressive entertainment industry relationships, and a thoughtful growth strategy," he said, "I'm pleased to serve the company at this foundational juncture."
