In a move that is common among companies, Aetrium, which supplies technology equipment, recently appointed two MBA degree holders to their board of directors.
Charles Westling and John Pollock, both of whom hold MBAs, were recently given the invitation to join the company's board because of their large backgrounds in the business and technology world, according to CNN Money.
Westling is no stranger to serving on boards. He currently serves on another board of directors for Bremer Bank N.A., which is a private financial company. He also is a member of the board of trustees for Dunwoody College of Technology, which educates people with diverse backgrounds.
Pollock has experience with the company, serving as Aetrium's president since October 2009. He was also the vice president of the company's North St. Paul operations for nearly eight years before his promotion.
"John Pollock has proven to be an astute, knowledgeable and effective executive manager during his years of service with the company, and his range of experiences and expertise made him particularly well suited to take on the responsibilities of president of the company," Joseph C. Levesque, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of the company, told the news provider.
An MBA could potentially lead to an executive position, as MBA programs teach students how to be a successful leader.
