For some professionals, pursuing an MBA degree is a great way to develop creativity and entrepreneurship.
One recent example comes from the University of Southern Mississippi, which recently had a team win the annual Golden Eagle Challenge Business Plan Competition, according to the state's Sun Herald newspaper.
According to the report, the MBA students won $3,000 for their business plan involving a sport cap with MP3 player controls in the visor that uses electronic fabric technology. The report also noted that another team took second place with its plan for an engineering consulting firm.
Such competitions are fairly common among business programs, as are other programs that pair up students with area small businesses that receive advice on how to grow their businesses.
For MBA students, innovation and skills like business planning and marketing are all part of a day's work. This is especially the case when considering how a growing number of people with MBA degrees are choosing to work for startups or launching their own businesses.
