MBAs are known for thinking strategically and knowing a good opportunity when they see one. This could be why so many of them are going into the likes of gambling.
With the job market making a slow but stable recovery, anxious MBAs are turning to careers in gambling as a means of earning a living, according to BusinessWeek. While some may be choosing to try their luck at blackjack, others are choosing to work for casinos.
The news provider reports that casinos have increased their MBA recruiting in order to improve their business, manage debt, oversee human resources and other business strategies that those with a lesser degree may not be able to master.
"You need people who know how to read the information collected from the data cards and put it to good use," Dan Wyse, marketing analysis manager at Harrah's Entertainment, told the news provider.
Other casino owners echoed this statement saying there were plenty of management opportunities in the gaming industry available to MBAs.
If you're interested in learning more about the business side of various industries, an MBA may give you the skills you need to work in a variety of positions.
