Georgia extended their reign at the top spot after a resounding 52-17 win over Ole Miss, setting a new SEC record for consecutive victories. Meanwhile, Michigan continued their dominant form for the second consecutive season, securing their 999th program victory in the process.
Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. etched his name in the Buckeyes’ history books, becoming the first player to reach 1,000 receiving yards in two seasons. Not to be outdone, Florida State extended their winning streak to 16 games, matching the third-longest run in school history.
Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. made history, becoming the first Huskies player to surpass 8,000 passing yards in a two-year span. On the other side of the field, Oregon’s Bo Nix put on a show, throwing for 400 yards and four touchdowns in a victory against USC.
Texas relied on the combined efforts of quarterback Quinn Ewers and running back Jonathon Brooks to maintain their perfect record. Ewers’ passing prowess and Brooks’ ground game propelled the Longhorns to another victory. In a record-breaking performance, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe became the first player in the university’s history to throw three touchdowns and rush for three scores in a single game.
Other notable highlights include: Louisville’s thrilling comeback win over Virginia, Missouri’s Cody Schrader’s incredible all-around display, Kansas State’s highest-scoring game since 2016, and Notre Dame’s recent struggles against ACC opponents.
Meanwhile, Penn State’s James Franklin faced setbacks against both Michigan and Ohio State, dropping his record to 4-16 against these formidable rivals during his tenure. LSU’s Jayden Daniels also made history as the first FBS player to achieve over 350 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in a single game.
The excitement extended beyond the powerhouse teams, with Tulane’s Shedro Louis scoring a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown, the first occurrence since 2003. James Madison reached the milestone of 10-0 for only the second time in their program’s history, thanks to quarterback Jordan McCloud’s four touchdown passes.
In conference play, Arizona secured their longest Pac-12 winning streak in 25 years, while Tennessee’s dominance over Missouri came to an end with a loss. North Carolina’s Tez Walker shone in a standout performance, amassing over 160 receiving yards against Duke. Oklahoma State, on the other hand, suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of UCF, becoming one of the few top-15 teams to lose by over 40 points to a sub-.500 team.
A major accomplishment was achieved by Liberty University, as they reached a historic 10-0 record for the first time under the guidance of first-year coach Jamey Chadwell. Their unbeaten run marks a new era for the Flames’ football program.
