The Ohio State University’s Max M. Fisher College of Business is seeing a surge in enrollment in its Working Professional MBA (WPMBA) program, with more than 60% growth since the 2021-2022 school year. Marc Stellato, an ICU nurse in Phoenix, Arizona, and Julia Wilson, a program coordinator at Ohio State’s Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens, are among the 500 students currently enrolled in the program, drawn by its flexibility and opportunities for career advancement.
Stellato decided to enroll in the WPMBA program to accelerate his career into upper management, while Wilson saw the flexibility of weeknight and weekend classes as a major draw following the pandemic. The program offers a mix of online and on-campus classes, allowing students to control the pace of their education and take semesters off if needed.
Both Stellato and Wilson praised the challenging curriculum led by world-class faculty and experiential learning opportunities such as Fisher’s Global Applied Projects (GAP) program and one-credit workshops on key topics. Wilson participated in the GAP program in 2023, consulting for a company in Vicenza, Italy, and found the hands-on, real business problem-solving experience invaluable.
Wilson tailored her WPMBA to include a certificate from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs, enhancing her leadership and presentation skills, which led to a promotion at work. Both Stellato and Wilson found the MBA education at Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business to be a valuable investment in their careers, citing a return on investment through salary increases and promotions.
