Actress Felicity Huffman, famously known for her role in the college admissions scandal Operation Varsity Blues, has addressed her involvement in the scandal for the first time. Huffman, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest service mail fraud, admitted to falsifying her daughter’s SAT scores with the assistance of Rick Singer, a college-admission consultant.

Rick Singer had devised a system of bribery and fraud to help affluent parents secure their children’s college admissions, which ultimately ensnared Huffman and numerous others. While Huffman served only 11 days in prison, Singer was sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars for his actions. Another established Hollywood name embroiled in the scandal, Lori Loughlin, received a two-month prison sentence.

Justifying her actions, Huffman claimed that she felt compelled to give her daughter a chance at a prosperous future and believed that breaking the law was her only option. This revelation came as Huffman shared her experience of being arrested by the FBI, narrating her shock and disbelief throughout the process.

Now, Huffman aims to raise awareness for A New Way of Life, a women’s nonprofit organization where she completed her court-ordered community service. Showing her dedication to the cause, she continued to volunteer and eventually became a member of the board of directors. A New Way of Life supports women who are struggling after incarceration by providing housing, legal services, workforce and education development programs, and advocacy. Huffman actively contributes to the organization by organizing donations and creating exercise classes for the women.
