Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has given the green light to three significant economic projects that are set to boost employment opportunities within the state. One of these projects is expected to create 180 jobs in Defiance, Ohio, by introducing a new plant called MMX.

Fort Wayne-based recycling plant MetalX is spearheading the MMX plant, which is projected to contribute an impressive $14.4 million in annual payroll to the area. By functioning as an aluminum recycling and rolling slab plant, this facility will undoubtedly provide a welcome boost to the local economy.

In a bid to support the ambitious MMX project, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority has granted a nine-year, 1.915% “Job Creation Tax Credit.” This assistance will undoubtedly facilitate the smooth operation and success of the MMX plant.

MetalX initially unveiled its plans for the MMX project back in April of 2023. With the necessary approvals now in place, the company is targeting the first half of 2026 for full operational capability. This timeline allows for adequate preparation and ensures a seamless transition into production.

In addition to the exciting developments in Defiance, there are two other economic projects set to benefit the state. Franklin and Wayne counties will see a combined total of 115 jobs generated, further contributing to Ohio’s employment landscape.

The economic strides made by these projects not only benefit the individuals directly employed but also extend to the various businesses and services that will inevitably grow around them. This positive ripple effect is a testament to the transformative power of strategic economic initiatives.

As the MMX plant nears completion, the state of Ohio eagerly anticipates the positive impact these projects will have on its economy. From increased job opportunities to a strengthened business ecosystem, the benefits are far-reaching. Governor DeWine’s support for these ventures reflects his dedication to propelling Ohio towards a more prosperous future.

Overall, the approval of these three major economic projects is a momentous occasion for Ohio. With potential employment opportunities on the horizon and a focus on fostering growth, the state is sure to see significant positive changes in the coming years.
