JBS Foods Extends Helping Hand to Displaced Tyson Workers
In response to Tyson’s recent announcement regarding the closure of its processing plant in Perry, Iowa, JBS Foods hosted a job fair to assist the approximately 1300 employees who are set to lose their jobs this summer. The job fair took place at the Market on Willis Avenue in Perry, conveniently located near the soon-to-be-shuttered Tyson plant.
Among the first to take advantage of the job fair was Hegstrom, a long-time Tyson employee with seven years of service. Hegstrom expressed his desire to continue working in the area and is now considering employment opportunities with JBS.
Maricela Ramirez, the employment manager at JBS, mentioned that there are job openings at the Marshalltown plant and other JBS locations for displaced Tyson workers. JBS is also offering location assistance and other benefits to aid in the transition to new employment.
Due to the overwhelming response to the initial job fair, another event will be held outside Elre Market on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm in Perry. This additional job fair aims to provide further support and job opportunities for those affected by the closure of the Tyson plant.
The community has rallied around the displaced workers, with local businesses and organizations coming together to help them navigate this challenging time. JBS Foods’ commitment to assisting Tyson employees in finding new employment highlights the spirit of unity and support within the Perry community.
