In their final game of the tour, the Cougars completely dominated the Australia Select Team, securing a convincing 88-50 victory. Grimes led all players with 15 points, nine rebounds, six steals, and three assists, while Sasser contributed 14 points, six assists, and a game-high seven steals. Their outstanding play helped the team secure a memorable victory.

From the beginning of the game, the Cougars took control, establishing a commanding 24-10 lead after the first quarter. They sustained their dominance throughout the game, maintaining a robust defense that limited the Australia Select Team to a mere 31.9% shooting from the field and forced an impressive 31 turnovers.
The win against the Australia Select Team marked the Cougars’ final game of their tour, which also included notable victories against the East All-Stars (93-52) and the Frankston Blues (109-65). This successful tour not only demonstrated the team’s skill and potential for the upcoming season but also marked their first visit to the Southern Hemisphere, showcasing their global presence and commitment to expanding their basketball program internationally.
Aside from the games themselves, the team made the most of their time in Australia by visiting popular attractions such as the Sydney Opera House and the Great Barrier Reef. This cultural enrichment allowed the players to experience the unique beauty and charm of the country while forging lasting memories.
Back home, the team’s success is evident from the sold-out season ticket allotment for the 2023-24 season at the Fertitta Center. The overwhelming support from fans showcases the excitement and anticipation surrounding the Cougars’ transition to the Big 12 Conference.
